TEEN BOARDING SCHOOLS
Art therapy is a creative way to gain insights into the thoughts and emotions of a teen who may be closed off to conventional therapeutic approaches. During most art therapy sessions, the therapist assigns a particular project, such as creating masks or a collage, and then asks questions and offers insights to process the experience.
Art is a non-verbal, non-intimidating mode of communication that can be stress-relieving and cathartic. For teens who are resistant to traditional therapy or who are too withdrawn to communicate effectively, drawing, painting, sculpting and other forms of art open up new avenues of self-expression.
